Princeton Health is currently searching for a Part Time, Days, Lactation Consultant Registered Nurse – RN for the Princeton Medical Center, Mother/Baby Unit.

Schedule: The hours of this position are 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with a voluntary on call.

Position Summary:  The Lactation Consultant-Registered Nurse (LC-RN) functions to enhance the normal process of lactation and to prevent, assess, and manage lactation problems in the in-patient setting. The Lactation Consultant is a health care provider who is qualified to provide education and consultation for routine and special circumstances related to breastfeeding. 

Qualifications:

All Princeton Health employees are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.

Required:

– Bachelor Degree

– Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure issued by the State of New Jersey

– International Lactation Consultant Certification (IBCLC)

– Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA)

– Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)- within 6 months of hire

– Two (2) to four (4) years related work experience

– At least two (2) years of maternal-child health nursing with IBCLC experience and ability to collaborate with the multidisciplinary care teams

– Fluent in the clinical competencies and scope of practice for IBCLCs as established by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners

– Lactation skills and knowledge to address a wide variety of breastfeeding challenges. Ability to work with families from several different patient care units and diverse cultural backgrounds

– Pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds- Occasionally
