Business Systems Analyst

This is a Contract position in Piscataway, NJ posted December 27, 2019.

The Business Systems Analyst provides application support, business requirements analysis, pre-project planning, and project management for the community of users in a specific business department or division within the company, related to shop floor solutions like BMS and automatons. While her/his broad experience on many functional areas from Supply Chain to Manufacturing contributes to the support of the user communities, and the success of projects, s/he will also support the Oracle EBS ERP system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary contact for a designated community of users.

• Performs functional and technical second level support for applications and systems, analyzing and solving incidents and problems, identifying root causes and reporting critical issues to the management.

• Coordinate delivery of the following services: gathering requirements, taking and following up user requests, translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications, suggesting process improvements, and supervising user acceptance testing.

• Manages business analysis for change requests and projects by overseeing and collaborating closely with the business stakeholders to understand business needs, processes and data sources.

• Translates the business needs into clearly defined and documented detailed requirements and project plans, develops functional specifications and use cases, obtains consensus and sign-off on deliverables, writes and coordinates UAT plans and execution, serves as the conduit with software development and technical teams, and transitions changes and application to operational mode and people.

• Participate in incident resolution, data extraction and other operational activities in support of specific business applications

• Chair or moderate meetings with business users and It personnel for defining, prioritizing and resolving requests (day-to-day or project-related)

• Advise super-users on application usage, finding and proposing workarounds when appropriate

• Prepare proposals, including cost & benefit analysis, for larger change requests or small/medium projects

• Manage the prioritization process for business It requests in line with Business and IT strategy;

• Prepare and plan projects and manage delivery with business stakeholders, IT colleagues and external consultants/programmers

• Manage workload according to defined KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)

• When needed, act as a Project Leader for medium/larger projects.

• Support the management of Oracle databases through the managed services partner.

• Strong IT background both technical and as a generalist

• Knowledge of standard ERP functionality and process flows mainly within Manufacturing and Supply Chain modules.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to deal efficiently with complex or multi-functional issues.

• Good knowledge of business process analysis techniques and tools

• Good project management skills, including strong mastery of Microsoft project or similar tool

• Experience in preparing project charters

• Customer service oriented, flexible and open minded

• Good organizational skills and ability to manage opposing interests and resolve conflicts

• Ability to work independently, but also as part of a larger team

• Demonstrated ability to lead a team

• Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues and customers

• Demonstrated ability to negotiate constructive solutions with stakeholders in and outside the IT community

• Ability to quickly acquire new skills and to craft creative solutions by thinking outside the box

• Strong oral and written communication skills



• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline

• 4+ years functional experience in shop floor systems

• At least 1 years of experience with the tools used for data retrieval and development in an SQL-based environment

• At least 5 years of IT industry experience with systems analysis and/or programming.

• 3+ years of project management, systems development, documentation and/or testing including at least one system implementation


• SQL Server Management

• Working knowledge of Loftware.

• SQL Certification

• ITIL V3.0 Foundation

• Knowledge of manufacturing software such as Batchmetrics, Fricke and Contexa.

• Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite Supply Chain modules
