Lecturer – Graphic Design

Rider University

This is a Contract position in Lawrence Township, NJ posted November 27, 2019.

The Department of Communication and Journalism is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Lecturer position to begin in Fall 2020 in the Graphic Design program.

Candidates should be familiar with various aspects of graphic design, as well as visual communication theories concerning color theory, aesthetics, and Gestalt principles and its application to print, web and multimedia design, and motion graphics.

The primary requirement shall be teaching a variety of courses in the Graphic Design major, including such courses as Typography, Graphic Imaging for Multimedia, History and Principle of Graphic Design, Photography, Project Management in Graphic Design, and Advanced Graphic Design and Portfolio.

The Lecturer will be appointed to an initial three-year, renewable term and have a 4-4 teaching load (12 hrs/semester) associated with this position.

The primary responsibilities of the Lecturer are teaching, advising students primarily in their courses of instruction and service to the Department, although he/she may also provide service to the College and the University.

Position Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess A Master’s degree or higher in graphic design or related areas, such as visual communication, interactive design, marketing, or advertising, and have experience teaching a variety of graphic design courses.

Successful candidates will have extensive knowledge of current and emerging professional practices in graphic design, with the ability to prepare students for career opportunities in the field.

Preference will be given to the candidate who has a record of active professional practice.
