Facilities / Engineering Operations Manager 1


This is a Full-time position in Lakewood, NJ posted November 30, 2019.

Sodexo has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities/Engineering Operations Manager supporting Lakewood Public Schools in Lakewood, New Jersey.


The school district comprises of 12 different locations, seven of which are schools, and some out buildings and other units – a total of 800k sq. ft throughout the district.

 Key Responsibilities/ Requirements:

Reporting to the Director of Facilities you will be the number two person in the account responsible for the day to day operations and management the Maintenance/ Preventative Maintenance and Grounds. Requirements include:

  • Previous experience in Facilities Operations Management and/ or Operations and Maintenance Management;
  • Strong knowledge and experience with HVAC, building maintenance and preventative maintenance;
  • Experience managing/supervising Grounds preferred;
  • Promote a culture of safety by observing and working with staff, conducting walk-throughs/inspections;
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills;
  • Proficient with computer applications and experience with CMMS;
  • Experience building, managing and developing exceptional teams;
  • Strong Organizational skills and the ability to multitask;
  • Minimum four years’ experience in a supervisory or management role;
  • Experience in K-12 setting is strongly preferred;
  • CFM preferred.

Responsible for a single scope of work in hard services area. 3rd in command
Supervises the account as the #2 manager and has full responsibility including supervision of other managers. Responsible for entire account when the Director of Facilities Ops is not present. In Univ. same as above as well as size and scope is less than an Ops 2;

Key Duties
– Manage one other manager; typically in account with smaller volume and FTE count; Manage by walking around; Staffs, trains, and is responsible for employee development

– Technical client interface

– Payroll and time mgmt. of frontline staff

– Oversees and coordinates projects

– Manages work orders/CMMS

– Manages mechanicals (i.e. HVAC)

– Manages financials

– Responsible for client relations/engagement

– Manages QA and Safety


Basic Education Requirement – Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience – 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience – 3 years work experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services
